In 2015, Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd. acquired 50 % ownership of the Porgera mine in Papua New Guinea. The mine is operated with riverine tailings disposal. The company Barrick Gold Corp. is excluded from the GPFG because of its ownership in this mine, and the same would be grounds for exclusion of Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd.
